Classes are organized and taught by Marie Demene. A maximum of five people per group.  This approach ensures that you will Marie will provide you with the necessary attention and time throughout this boot camp program.

What is the French Learning Method?

This Boot Camp has only one goal: To give you the knowledge and tools to achieve basic French in 13 (75 minute) sessions.

You will progressively learn to speak and read French by targeting the most fundamental topics with Marie’s three stage method: 1) Mastering French Phonetics, 2) Learning critical French verbs and vocabulary, 3) Learning Essential French Grammar.

Stage 1: Mastering French Phonology

Every language has unique sound patterns known as phonemes. Phonemes are what set every language apart, and often result in the ‘accent’ you associate with any given language.

Learning French begins by becoming aware and recognizing the specific phonemes of this language.

In this first stage you will learn to identify and pronounce the French sound system including:

  • Consonants
  • Low, Mid and Nasal Vowels

Stage 2: Critical French verbs and vocabulary

How good is a strong foundation if you don’t have the content to build up your French?

Learning the essential verbs and vocabulary is the content that will boost your receptive and verbal skills. The more essential vocabulary you have, the more capacity you will have to transform your thoughts into spoken French. Most importantly, verbs are the key to understanding every written and spoken sentence.

In this second stage, you will learn:

  • The most critical verbs & vocabulary
  • Conjugation tenses: Present, Past tense, Imperfect & Future
  • How to  greet others formally/informally
  • Numbers
  • Telling time
  • Calendar days
  • Family structure

Stage 3: Essential French grammar

Learning to combine words, such as verbs and adjectives to form proper sentences requires knowledge of basic french grammar rules. In this final section, you will learn the basic rules to structure well-spoken sentences. You will also apply all your knowledge from the previous stages. The topics covered include

  • Adverbs
  • Articles
  • Expressions of times
  • Interrogation
  • Negation
  • Nouns
  • Pronouns

What are the French sessions like?

These French classes are very dynamic and require high degree of interaction between Marie and participants. Sessions are structured to include theory followed by a series of individual and group exercises to put into practice learned concepts (‘learning by-doing’).

These exercises heavily rely on multi-sensory experience and will often include visual, auditory and tactile materials. Above all, you will have the opportunity to practice your French by interacting with other members from your group.

What is included in this French Lesson program?

This program is all inclusive of materials, including weekly handouts, homework to reinforce learning and lists of resources for audio podcasts. All you need is a pen and a notepad.
